Over A Cup Of Coffee

Over a cup of coffee Mr. Kumar had just begin to relax. The rhythmic pattering of the rain drops felt good to his ears and the weather seemed very romantic to him. This was the rainy season in Mumbai, his favourite and he would give up his fortune to sit like this – feet up on an easy chair having coffee, listening to the raindrops and thinking about his special friend.

Mr. Kumar, 24, an I.T professional lived with his parents in Andheri West. Today was a Saturday and having spent the entire morning in seeing off his parents at the airport and the entire afternoon at the pizza hut with his ‘friend’, he was now enjoying this lone evening at home.

As he brought the coffee near his face to take a second sip, his smile faded away from his lips. A fly was floating in the coffee and had made it unsuitable to drink. Stupid fly, Mr. Kumar thought, this was the only place it had gotten for itself. Now, however there was no option but to make another cup for himself. Going towards the kitchen it dawned to him that there was no coffee powder left and that he would have to go to the grocery shop in the locality if he wished to have some.

Therefore taking his umbrella with him, he stepped on the street only to find himself standing in knee deep water. His determination got the better of his fear and the rapidly developing frustration; thus forcing him to wade through the water. He had gone a fair distance when suddenly he felt the ground under him give away and he stumbled into a pit. Putting in all his resources he somehow managed to come out of the hole now wet upto the chest. The rain was battering on his face now and he suddenly realized that he didn’t have his umbrella any more. He searched frantically near him for some moments but it was nowhere to be seen. Feeling as miserable as ever he dragged himself ahead.

Mr. Kumar was still abusing the BSNL guys about the pit when he reached the shop. A lightening struck him when the shopkeeper told him that he had no coffee left. With an aching heart and aching legs he somehow limped back to his door.

As soon as he returned home he rushed to the bathroom to clean himself up. It was there that he realized that in his misadventure, he had subjected his N-95 mobile to water while he was carrying it in his pocket. Also his wallet and its contents had met with a similar fate. Now out of the bathroom feeling more morose and crestfallen than ever. Mr. Kumar’s eyes fell on the cup of coffee with the fly in it. He grabbed it, picked the fly out of it, reheated it and hade made himself comfortable again- sitting feet up in his easy chair. Sipping the coffee which tasted much better to him now, he was beginning to relax and feel comfortable again; except that he was hardly able to think about his ‘friend’ now and the weather didn’t seem to be at all romantic to him.

OVER THE CUP OF COFFEE

A bright sunny day under the canvas umbrella shade, a cup of coffee encircled by my fingers and chatting to a handsome guy is what I dreamed to be an idea of a perfect date. And yes, it came true when I was sitting with Chris in Café Magic. We were there to discuss some project topic but it was a date for me as we were alone and sipping the best of coffee.

You act like a crazy when you are all alone with the guy you like and don't know how to conduct yourself. 'Am I dressed properly? Am I boring him? Am I talking silly or acting stupid?' I was questioning myself in his presence. "This project will help guys and gals to gel well with their ideas, you see" he said in a casual tone. And my mind raced with the light speed to find out the hidden meaning (if any) in his lines.

'Was he indicating something, do he feel the same for me as I feel for him?' again I started playing games with my mind. He continued to discuss the project requirements but as expected I wasn't really paying any attention, it was then I came back to my senses when he said black looks perfect on me. "Really!" this time I totally blushed on his compliment. I revolved my dry fingers on the moist coffee cup lines and the sour taste of beverage felt extremely sweet.

"So you are coming to my party, uh? He asked catching me unaware. "Party? For what?" I asked controlling my excitement. "Oh, it's just a get together kind, but I am planning to surprise Roma by proposing her." Chris replied.

Now this was not I could have heard, my whole world which I dreamt few minutes ago came crashing down and I felt like screaming at him. But all I said "good, all the best then" I don't know how I said those words. My anger finally outbursted and I rose, paid the coffee bills and left the café leaving him wondering.

After that incident I did learn, no matter with whomoever you are accompanied, do enjoy the coffee you have as it's the best thing you can bank upon.

The Blank Black, The Wise White & The Graceful Grey

Rose is red, leaf is green,

Clouds are many but Sky is blue,

Too colourful the world is and

Conscience doesn’t need any clue”

So, what’s your favourite colour? Ask this question to any person …some will say red, some blue, some will go for yellow, some will say green… you will not get one who doesn’t like colours. Fill any painting with several colours and it will, no-brainer, become colourful. Have you ever delved in your mind, “Is it really full of colours?? Is it just what it seems to be?? Or it is something else??” if you think so then its time to beguile you to something which was veneered with open eyes.

Again coming to the word “colourful”, if something is full of colours then it is not necessarily full with colours. For example, if it has the colour red, we can say that it doesn’t have any colour except red as is proved by science. The same is true for all colours. And ask anyone about the colour white, most of them would say it is colourless until it has some other colour mixed. All the colours are mingled together to give white. This is the only colour which is colorful and nothing is missing. What is the reason behind?? It is just too simple to be understood. It tells us to remain simple and enjoy the feeling of completeness as White is Wise.

Moving further, the colour black is profoundly loved by the youth in clothes and accessories. But Black is Blank. This colour is nothing, it’s a colourless colour. It is actually the absence of colour which gives black. It has nothing to show to others or in other words it digests everything coming to it and leaves nothing. It is the colour of emptiness as well as eagerness. Since it is empty enough to show you nothing and eager enough to gulp whatever it gets. It again depends on how you take.

Between the above two extremes, there exists a gap filled with the graceful colour grey. So what exactly is the colour grey???? Is it black with white mixed or is it white with black mixed?? You answer and it will again reflect your attitude. Isn’t it? Grey is graceful when it has both, White and Black perfectly combined. It is the colour which is colorful with patches of colourlessness. So relating it to human nature, it is blank as well as wise enough to understand and withstand everything.

These colours do reflect your personality upto some extent. So which kind of person you are… the blank black, the wise white or the graceful grey???

I WISH THERE WAS….

I wish there was a Singer in me,
Wishing this I started singing,
I mumbled SAaaa...
My mom said NAaaa.
Complaints grew,pleased were few,
Everyone asked,Brother KYUN?
I felt disheartened,had a cry,
If they can sing,why can't I?
Continued singing,kept on trying,
Each moment being,HORIFFYING,
Well one day It seemed,I caught melody,
I knew oh Lord,it's the remedy.
Now,
I know there is a Singer in me,
So wished there was a programmer in me,
Wishing this raised anxiety,
But wishes Friends, got me into IT.
